4th Annual Turtleneck and Sweater Party!
Posted by eric on December 19, 2006 - 9:19am :: Asthma Related
This Saturday, Arlene, Alex and I travelled south to La Jolla to attend the 4th Annual Turtleneck and Sweater Party, thrown by the Hicks brothers and Pug's lovely wife Teej (spelling?). It was a blast. The point of this kind of party is to look as ridiculous as possible, while staying themed in the whole "tacky holiday" thing. The invitation warned that: a turtleneck, sweater and holiday spirit were mandatory and a traditional holiday mustache was encouraged. Alex and I did the best we could in the mustache department, but the Carroll/Hauserman genes don't really allow for last minute facial hair growth, so I spent the last two weeks cultivating my mustache and Alex did what he could in the time he had between meetings with agents and his job, where, "sketchy looking facial hair" is obviously frowned upon. But he managed to pull off a pretty sweet handlebar mustache none-the-less and people gave me lots of compliments on how ridiculous my mustache was. All three of us (and many others at the party as you can see in the photos) totally rocked our out fits. Arlene went above and beyond the call, and not only looked AMAZINGLY hilarious (and somehow still beautiful!), but even brought a bag of goodies, which included (but isn't limited to) an air horn, silly string, poinsettias to pin on people, awards for people with great outfits and so on. It was So Much FUN. There are hundreds of pictures from this event, and I tried to pick my favorites from my, Alex and Arlene's cameras and make a gallery, which you can see by clicking HERE, or on the image above...Hats off to the hosts of the party who figured out how to combine Holiday Fun, Friends, Looking ridiculous, and Drink Specials and make it benefit CHARITY (the money we paid to get in and a lot of the money spent at the bar went to a good cause)! BRAVO! This was easily one of the most memorable parties I have ever, EVER, been to...
For those of you who were there, I'll try and figure out a way to post all 200-300 pics we have for you to download, check back in a few days and hopefully I'll have instructions for nabbing these pics...
UPDATE: Pug, one of the masterminds behind this party just pointed me towards Hometown Invasion where Justin, who is traveling the country and ended up at this party, has posted some pics from this very same party, including some great ones of my lovely lady-friend, Arlene! Go check out his site, the pics and if you can support him on his quest to explore the country for a year! Thanks for the heads-up Pug, Thanks for the pics Justin, and thanks for reading this blog guys!
I go, do you? Go that is?

Hey all! Just thought I would spread the word about a pretty cool resource for all the jet-set world travelers who read my blog. My good friend Jenn has begun writing travel journals for this website called igugo.com (pronounced 'I go, You go') and she asked some of us to check it out, and sure enough, its pretty cool. You can see Jenn's articles there by clicking the link above and searching for Jenn126...
but you TOO can submit travel journals there... Slick stuff... Anyway, ENJOY!

So even though the title of this article: Genetically modified cats for sale, makes you think you are reading an article about kittens with 3 tails or pink fur, in fact this is much less nefarious genetic modification. A company in California has stated that they have produced kittens that do no secrete the proteins that most people who are bothered by cats are allergic to. Other than that the kittens are entirely normal and should lead normal cats lives, you wouldn't know the difference if you saw one of these cats walking about your neighborhood. I think this is a wonderful example of the great thing science can do, especially technologies or sciences that Science Fiction and Hollywood have given a bad name, like Genetic Modification. Very few scientists want to create the perfect killer with these technologies, most of them are focusing on ways to repress cancer, cure children of diseases before they are born, and the much more novel (but in my opinion, just as amazing!) creating hypoallergenic pets for those who thought they might never get to own a flesh and blood house pet!Now, if my business does well enough that I can afford a $3500 kitten by 2007 when the first batches of these adorable little guys are available, sign me up!
